Directs and integrates nursing professional development throughout the hospital and clinics in the New Orleans area. Participates in the system-wide Nursing Professional Development Integration Council, with the goal of standardizing practices, orientation and educational offerings. Consistent with the philosophy, goals, and objectives of the organization, the Director of Nursing Professional Development and Research at OMC New Orleans Is responsible for assessing the learning needs of nursing staff, planning, implementing and evaluating the related educational programs, and participating in evidence based-practice. The annual nursing education program management includes the annual education administered through the online learning management system and the classroom training, specifically the orientation to OMC. Participates in and supports the Nursing Research Council and nursing research activities at the OMC New Orleans campus, Represents Ochsner as the key liaison with nursing school faculty and deans, as we11 as other professional nursing groups such as LSNA,
NOAONE and local nursing professional development organizations. The role requires significant self-direction, self-confidence, and Interdepartmental cooperation.

A. Education, Experience & Training:
Licensed Registered Nurse and Master's degree in Nursing, Education, or related field required. A Minimum of three years of clinical nursing experience, plus 2 years of education experience required. Management or supervisory experience preferred; knowledge of management principles and practices
Including performance improvement.
B. Other Qualifications:
Must be self-directed and possess excellent organizational and oral/written communication skills. Excellent project management skills and ability to work effectively in a matrixed organizational structure.
