Description Under the direction of the Electrical Engineering Manager, or other Manufacturing Engineers, provides a high level of technical and engineering support for the Manufacturing and Quality engineers as well as instrument production. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (General Functions) :
1.Provide prototype construction, testing and subsequent analysis and reporting for new and modified instrument electrical/electronic PC boards and/or sub-systems. 2. Assist with and/or initiate the development of test tooling, assembly and test fixtures, and corresponding engineering specifications and production documentation. Provide in-house calibration for internal tooling as needed, and ensure documentation and record keeping are within BD quality policies and GMP requirements.
3. Provide diagnostic troubleshooting assistance and coaching to associates engaged in assembly and test operations in the Instrument Plant. Assist manufacturing group leaders with technical traning and training assessment of production associates.
4. Assist in the development and execution of verification/validation protocols, Six Sigma projects, and Lean initiatives.
5. Support the Instrument Plant MRB with PC board troubleshooting, repair, and analysis to the component level to determine failure root cause and corrective actions. Maintain support documentation for these activities. The above activities require independent analytical judgment to plan, perform, and make decisions relating to duties and responsibilities above. A high degree of proven problem solving capabilities is needed.
Qualifications SKILLS AND APTITUDE: Must possess familiarity with the operation and result interpretation of electronic test equipment including: digital analog multi-meters, function generators, storage oscilloscopes, and power supplies. Must be able to recognize and comprehend the function of basic and moderately advanced electronic circuits devices. Must be able to read and interpret engineering and PC board schematic diagrams to understand component and circuit function. Must be able to analytically troubleshoot and repair instruments and subassemblies, and provide supporting documentation. Must be able to troubleshoot and repair PTH and SMT PC boards to the component level, using appropriate test equipment and PC board repair equipment. Must have computer literacy including word processing, spreadsheet, and database skills. Must be able to communicate effectively verbally and posess technical writing writing skills. Must have the ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks concurrently Must have a thorough knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices, Good Workmanship Standards, safety standards and practices, and industry quality control methods and measurements. EDUCATION Requires an Associate’s degree in Electronics/Engineering Technology, or equivalent combination of technical education and experience with demonstrated competence in electronic theory and troubleshooting. EXPERIENCE: At least 5-7 years experience in an electronics technician position, with at least 3 years experience troubleshooting circuit boards to the component level. Medical manufacturing experience is preferred. Experience with automated testing is desired. Exposure to Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing is desirable.
