The Division of Hematology/Oncology at Loyola University Chicago, Stritch School of Medicine and the Cardinal Bernardin Cancer Center seeks a fellowship trained; board certified/board eligible Hematologist/Oncologist at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. This position will lead our GI Medical Oncology Translational Research Program.

The ideal candidate will have a professional interest and training in the treatment of adult GI and hepatic cancers and demonstrate the ability to conduct clinical research associated with these diseases.

Responsibilities include inpatient and outpatient care at Loyola University Medical Center and the Hines VA and active participation in our weekly Multidisciplinary GI clinics. The successful candidate will actively participate in clinical and translational research associated with GI and hepatic cancers and contribute to a robust menu of clinical treatment options including dendritic cellular therapy trials for patients. Teaching responsibilities will include fellows, residents and medical students as assigned.

Based in the western suburbs of Chicago, Loyola University Health System is a quaternary care system with a 61 acre main medical center campus and 22 primary and specialty care facilities in Cook, Will and DuPage counties. The medical center campus is conveniently located in Maywood, 13 miles west of the Chicago Loop and 8 miles east of Oak Brook, Ill. The heart of the medical center campus, Loyola University Hospital, is a 570 licensed bed facility currently undergoing a significant expansion project. It houses a Level 1 Trauma Center, a Burn Center and the Ronald McDonald Childrens Hospital of Loyola University Medical Center. Also on campus are the Cardinal Bernardin Cancer Center, Loyola Outpatient Center, Center for Heart & Vascular Medicine and Loyola Oral Health Center as well as the LUC Stritch School of Medicine, the LUC Niehoff School of Nursing and the Loyola Center for Health & Fitness. The Cardinal Bernardin Cancer Center is a U10 grantee and a long standing member of SWOG.

For decades, Loyola University Medical Center has had a close partnership with Edward Hines, Jr. VA Hospital. Loyolas campus in Maywood, Illinois lies immediately east of Hines campus. Most faculty members of Loyolas Stritch School of Medicine have joint appointments at Hines, and Loyola students and resident physicians rotate through Hines as part of their training. Researchers from Loyola and Hines have collaborated closely on many federally funded studies
