GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF WORK:
Responsible for managing and maintaining Wildlife Habitat Management Areas and Public Access Areas. The majority of the time for the Cody position will be spent working on Yellowtail WHMA near Lovell. The Yoder position will focus on Springer and Table Mtn. WHMAs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The position is part of the Habitat & Access crew that is responsible for management and maintenance of Wyoming Game and Fish Department-managed lands that include Wildlife Habitat Management Areas (WHMA) and Public Access Areas (PAA) within the Cody and Laramie regions.

Each WHMA will have wildlife habitat improvements, recreation improvements, irrigation systems, wetland complexes, department buildings and numerous other improvements.

Each PAA will have parking areas with recreational improvements such as roads, comfort stations, car barriers, boat docks and signs.

The position primary responsibilities will be to maintain and repair these improvements.

This position will also work on other projects that improve or develop aquatic and terrestrial wildlife habitat within the state.

Responsible for the maintenance, and repairs of equipment.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
Knowledge of wildlife management, natural resource management, range management, wetland management, and habitat management.

Skill in written and oral communication and in interpersonal relations.

Ability to work alone and exercise independent judgment.

Skill in organizing, planning, prioritizing, and managing time.

Skill & ability to evaluate and problem solve.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Excellent physical condition is required.

Requires strength and stamina to work in extreme outdoor conditions and pack heavy supplies to remote locations.

Must be able to effectively and safely operate trucks, trailers, heavy equipment, tractors, ATVs, snowmobiles, power tools, and hand tools.

Ability to lift 50 lbs.

Must be able to work in adverse conditions.

PREFERENCES:
Preference will be given to those with four years of relevant experience or completion of college course work at the baccalaureate level in wildlife management, range management, or other related natural resource field.

Must have a valid drivers license.
