Purpose of Position
Counsels students on financial aid award packages and prepares paperwork to determine financial aid eligibility.
Counsels students on award packages, personal financial planning, money management, and other aid options. Prepares financial aid award packages and revisions of awards, obtains required documentation, and follows up for an assigned caseload of students. Provides, as needed, financial aid counseling in person and via telephone and email to individuals not part of assigned caseload. Assists in the implementation of quality control procedures as related to financial aid. Interacts with other University departments, state and federal agencies, and financial institutions. Attends professional development and training meetings. Participates in outreach presentations by the department.
Other related functions as assigned.
Bachelor's degree. A combination of one year of experience in student financial aid, student personnel, student services and/or related field. Completion of spelling and typing tests (see http://www.utexas.edu/hr/prospective/apply). Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel. Successful candidate must be willing to divest of any stock or other ownership interest in a student loan lender before start of employment. Shares in a publicly traded mutual fund or similar investment vehicle are exempted.
