SWCA Environmental Consultants is seeking a Cultural Resources Project Manager in Bismarck, North Dakota. This position combines high-level technical expertise with business and management responsibilities. Duties may include developing and implementing cultural resources projects, project coordination, staff management, and business development. This is a regular, full-time, salaried position reporting the Cultural Resource Team Lead in Bismarck. Salary will be based on individual qualifications and experience.

Job Responsibilities

Creatively and ethically serve the needs of SWCA’s current clients and establish and expand the client based and revenue in the field of cultural resources and environmental consulting

Directly manage projects and key client contracts

Establish project procedures and budgetary constraints, and follow those outlined by other staff, to assure that projects are completed within budget and on time

Prepare proposals, reports, and other technical documents, monitor field procedures and contribute to Research Designs, Treatment Plans, and other technical documents

Oversee and/or perform all aspects of field research, data collection, inventory, analyses, and report production

Supervise, direct, and instruct field and lab personnel

Assist with business development and marketing efforts

Work closely with SWCA’s other managers and directors in both natural and cultural resources throughout the company to promote SWCA’s business interests in adherence to its mission, vision, and values

Enhance SWCA’s professional reputation and demonstrate the ability to be creative and innovative with these tasks while representing SWCA in a professional manner

Ensure that fieldwork, analysis, and reporting complies with SWCA QA/QC protocol

Remain current with Agency protocol for conducting cultural resources work, particularly in North Dakota, South Dakota, Montana and Wyoming. Experience in Minnesota and Iowa is a plus

Accountable for the financial success of individual projects, as well as attainment of personal goals such as business development and utilization

Job Qualifications

A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree or higher in archaeology, anthropology or related field required

Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in cultural resources/project management with additional experience in a range of field methodologies; including survey, testing, excavation, and monitoring required

Regional experience in North Dakota and surrounding states

Demonstrated mentoring ability

Experience with scheduling and budgeting projects related to cultural resources

Ability to coordinate personnel and other resources while adhering to a budget

Exceptional technical writing skills and a record of timely report completion

Ability to manage multiple projects successfully

Ability to work independently as well as supervise small or large field crews

Adept at working with a variety of colleagues, clients, and agency representatives

A commitment to fiscal and scheduling responsibilities to projects of all sizes and scopes

Ability to be listed on federal and state cultural resource permits
