EnergySavvy is a rapidly growing software company that ’s changing the way people, businesses and utilities think about energy efficiency. We take a fanatical focus on happy customers add a healthy dose of great UX and put it all on top of a rapidly iterated set of technologies and algorithms. We ’re proud of what we ’ve created so far but we want to get even bigger and better. To do that, we need you.

We ’re not looking for a graphic designer to combine a generic UI toolkit with stock photos of light bulbs. To succeed in this position, you need to have an opinionated perspective on application UX and understand how to turn those opinions into reality by iteratively working with a software team. Our products take complex concepts like energy and complicated workflows and simplify them to delight our users. Turn on your left brain for a moment to process what you ’ll be doing when you get here: Own the company-wide UI/UX guidelines, style guide and iconography and provide guidance to developers, PMs and other team members on improving user experience Create UI mockups, storyboards and interactive prototypes for new features Work with the engineering team to turn complex concepts and functional specs into excellent user experiences Iterate on UX designs/prototypes to continually improve our products Figure out if your grand ideas actually work in the real world via focus groups, usability testing and direct customer feedback We understand that good design is above all else pragmatic and you should as well.

On the flip side, if you feel physical pain when you see an element that ’s clearly off by a pixel and have an overwhelming urge to just fix it, you ’ll fit right in. Here ’s what else we ’re looking for: Significant experience with web based software design Expert knowledge of web based design principles and standards – just as a sculptor needs to understand the clay she works with, you need to know your medium A solid understanding of UX and HCI – eye candy only gets you so far, the software has to work well too A strong portfolio of past work that highlights your clean design aesthetic and passion for developing simple solutions to complex problems 5+ years of design experience, preferably at a software company If you ’ve been a design leader before then you know how fun it can be and EnergySavvy is an excellent opportunity to use your skills for more than just the next social twitter widget on top of a facebook feed. If you haven ’t, this is a great chance to step up and own the design aspects of a rapidly growing startup. Or you could always do a tour at an agency designing the website for Bob ’s Honda and Chevrolet of Quahog.

They want more dazzle from your designs hellip; And make their logo bigger. To Apply: Please include work samples or a link to an online portfolio with your resume. Applications submitted without a portfolio will not be considered. About EnergySavvy EnergySavvy is a Seattle-based software company focused on energy efficiency.
