--Training and experience in planning and carrying out physical activities / curriculum for youth.
--Demonstrated ability to provide training and leadership to adults as well as youth.

--Interest and background in healthy lifestyles and obesity prevention concepts.

--Available for the entire summer camp program, June 10 - August 23, 2013 (no program July 1-5)
--Able to attend the mandatory pre-camp group training sessions held the evenings of June 3, 4 and 9th.
--Able to complete required individual training in advance, including First Aid and CPR certification, Bloodborne Pathogens, and others.

--Experience in educational or recreational settings working with youth during the school year.

--Planning age appropriate activities for approximately 250 youth per week (typically ages 5-6, 7-8, 9-11 & 12-15 are grouped together)
--Presenting, demonstrating & implementing age appropriate activities that focus on healthy lifelong activities and organized sports and events
--Involving the Group Leaders in assisting with the youth class activities
--Leading and mentoring Group Leaders in organizing and supervising appropriate physical activity during other (non-class) times at camp
--Inventory and preparation of equipment before, during and after camp
--Assist in facilitating the equipment check out process and increasing staff accountability
--Creating and maintaining an accepting, fun & safe environment for participants
--Fostering continuity and routines for participants throughout the summer
--Maintaining open communication with the Director and staff during the course of the summer regarding issues or other needs

Program/Unit Description
University Youth & Community Programs serves youth ages 5-15 and their families from the community with unique and high quality summer camps as well as school year activities. The program provides a positive outreach for the University of Minnesota that features the resources and facilities of the Twin Cities Campus while building a love of recreation, healthy activities and lifelong learning. Youth attend one or more weeks throughout the summer. Age appropriate groups are kept to a small, 1:7 ratio of adults to youth for a fun summer experience for all.
