Area District Manager
Ohio/Kentucky/Indiana & Eastern Missouri
Key Position Functions:
Strategic Planning
Develop and communicate the short/mid and long term strategic direction of the designated locations and overall market area
Facilitate collaboration between the area locations to optimize and align resources to facilitate growth, enhance operational service performance, and increase financial results.
Collaborate with and leverage commercial, product, function and other areas
Develop yearly business plans with monthly follow up to include review with commercial and competency center owners
Develop and implement investment plan for existing offices and for investment locations within the market area
Commercial
Generate sales growth through new business acquisition and the expansion of market share within current customer base
Identify and execute trade lane and vertical sales strategies based upon local market needs
Consistently measure customer satisfaction by monitoring monthly health checks and customer complaints
Ensure key and strategic customers are maintained and grown
Perform periodic business reviews with top 10 customers
Develop regular customer facing program for Business Customers not included in periodic review process
Identify and implement First Choice methodologies geared toward improving customer processes
Develop and communicate area marketing plan strategy
Manage the improvement of Customer Satisfaction over time
Operations/Administration
Lead First Choice/ISO/process improvement culture for the area
Monitor and track exceptions
Inspect quality provided to area customers
Review location and area profit and loss and develop plans to improve operational performance
Align operations to support strategic customer base
Develop procedures to ensure minimal business interruptions.
Manage collective bargaining agreements where applicable
Monitor collections and DSO to meet or exceed company targets
Ensure compliance with Company policy as well as local, state, federal laws/procedures
Finance
Development of an annual operating plan that includes Operational Profit, Gross Profit and Revenue Targets, Cost Targets, and Market Share
Ensure that cost control programmes are effectively implemented in order to manage unit costs
Ensures monitoring KPI’s are established to direct business decisions
Implement initiatives and processes to improve Net Working Capital
Responsible for adherence to Finance guidelines and policies
Coaching /Mentoring
Develop and maintain a high performing team of competent managers and staff, capable of delivering value through teamwork
Attract, select, and develop the best people
Ensure programs in place to maximize active leadership and employee engagement
Develop succession planning program at each level within the area
Prepare an annual compensation plan and ensure regular monitoring
Develop IKOs/KPIs with team members and monitor individual performance
Identify training needs and opportunities to develop a highly skilled team. Trains and develops managers for succession
Key Position Requirements
Bachelors degree, or equivalent, preferably in Logistics or Transportation
8-10+ years experience within the logistics or supply chain industry including commercial experience and at least 5-7 years of management experience
Previous P&L experience required
Highly organized, detail oriented, thorough and analytical –
Strong data analysis skills
Good communicator, good integrator between department and hierarchy levels
Project management and presentation skills as well as training aptitude
Collective bargaining experience
MS Office Suite, strong Excel and PowerPoint skills; MS Access and SharePoint preferred
Fluent English
Must be based in Cincinnati, OH where the successful candidate will also function as the District Manager.
