Senior Systems Integration Engineers
positions located in Columbus, IN.
Coordinate experimental development with a project team to ensure complete test article availability on time.
Develop test plans and lead the performance development and integration of engine systems to satisfy various governmental emissions regulatory requirements.
Use knowledge of dynamometer certification cycle and requirements to develop and perform engine tests to acquire data to meet the certification requirements.
Develop test tools and improve existing test tools.
Coordinate testing with technician and/or other Test Operations functions.
Coordinate hardware build planning and support.
Conduct analytical modeling and use existing models such as GT Power to evaluate and optimize sub-system performance and/or design and develop electronic calibrations.
Use simulation tools and methods including GT Power and Matlab/Simulink to perform in-cylinder analysis and design engineering tests. Collaborate on model calibration development with senior analytical experts.
Support sub-system technical profile development.
Apply standard data processing tools including Matlab and Simulink to process data and develop calibrations to aggregate and summarize system performance.
Understand and utilize established data quality assessment techniques.
Seek out peer review of results and present results to a cross-functional review group for conclusion generation.
Document results and conclusions in Fact Sheets and/or Cummins Technical Reports. Conduct test cell, vehicle, and cyber-bench experiments to aid in selection of hardware, software and calibration specifications that best meet the technical performance requirements of the project.
Use Data Acquisition software AVL – Indicom to collect and analyze engine data from test vehicles.
Study response to driver input, duty cycle in which the vehicle is used, internal engine combustion processes and vehicle response.
Utilize AVL – Concerto to evaluate a range of data including cycle-based, crank-angle-based, time-based and log-point-based data collected during engine development. Implement Design For Six Sigma (DFSS) methods to identify problems and improve products and processes.
Experience and Education:
Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field and 2 years of experience as a Mechanical Engineer, Systems Integration Engineer, or related position.
Alternatively, the employer will accept a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field and 5 years of experience as a Mechanical Engineer, Systems Integration Engineer, or related position.
Experience to include: GT Power; AVL – Indicom; AVL – Concerto; Emissions testing and regulatory requirements; dynamometer certification cycle and requirements; Design For Six Sigma (DFSS); Internal Combustion Engine.
