Completes all payroll processing functions on a timely basis, compiles, verifies, and adjusts information associated with generating County payroll, manages timekeeping functions and systems, performs accounting activities in support of payroll functions.
Compiles information to generate County payroll checks for employees; distributes payroll checks to County departments; maintains payroll records; provides backup coverage for processing complete payroll in absence of payroll manager.
Coordinates and troubleshoots electronic timekeeping system; exports and imports timekeeping system into payroll software.
Processes new hire, rehire, status changes, and terminations of employees; processes employee and employer contributions for retirement plans such as the 401K and Georgia State Retirement System plan.
Enters and verifies accuracy of payroll data; enters tax withholding changes; enters direct deposit requests; verifies accuracy of data of employees; enters contributed time to/from employees; enters badge number changes.
Processes a variety of documentation associated with department operations, within designated timeframes and per established procedures; distributes documentation or retains records as appropriate.
Provides information and assistance to employees or other individuals regarding payroll issues, policies, procedures, timeframes, forms, or other issues; responds to routine questions or complaints; initiates problem resolution.
Maintains confidentiality of departmental issues and documentation.
High school diploma or GED; supplemented by college level course work or vocational training in general accounting, office administration, and personal computer operations; supplemented by one (1) year previous experience and/or training involving payroll administration, electronic timekeeping, general accounting, and personal computer operations; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Data entry speed of 5000 kph is required.
