Overview :
The Senior Accountant, Revenue is a highly visible member of the Revenue Team responsible for various forecasting and accounting functions associated with the Company's approximately $700 million in annual revenues. This position will work closely with the other cross functional members of the Revenue Team, the Government Pricing Team, the Financial Reporting Team, Sales & Marketing and the Finance Manager to ensure an accurate and timely quarterly close within the 4 day close deadline.
This position will be responsible for monitoring, forecasting, and accounting for one or more of the Company’s major product families. This position will be responsible for contra revenue accounts, including Returns Reserve, Deferred Revenue, Patient Rebates, and Managed Care entries and controllable expenses, including Marketing Expenses for one or more of the Company’s major product families. In addition, this position will be responsible for wholesaler customer sales reporting and analytics, customer level sales forecasting, other accounting entries, and related accounting memos each quarter, as assigned by the Finance Manager.
In addition, this position will act as a primary resource for all revenue recognition research. Working with the various finance teams—and with Sales & Marketing—this position will help assess potential programs, and make recommendations for the accounting treatment of those programs.
Responsibilities :
Forecasting and accounting for one or more of the Company’s product families. This includes the related reserves and charges associated with the product family.
Forecasting and accounting for the Returns Reserve and Deferred Revenue. This includes the development of a detailed quarterly return forecast, as well as forecasting the impact to the reserve calculation.
Compiling the revenue forecast throughout the quarter based on recent customer and prescription trends.
Technical Accounting research. Based on current and upcoming promotions, conduct research to develop and recommend the proper accounting treatment for those programs. This will also include assisting with the accounting memos completed quarterly by the Revenue group.
Reporting and analytics for sales and returns patterns, trends and forecasted projections.
Prepare and Review the quarterly Sales & Marketing departmental accrual journal entries prior to entry into the financials.
Assist with the review and analysis of contracts; ensure contracts are accrued for properly into the financials.
Other closing duties, and related forecasting, as assigned by the Finance Manager.
