The Methodist Hospital Department of Surgery is seeking applicants for a full-time faculty position in emergency general surgery and surgical critical care. The Methodist Hospital (TMH) is a 904-bed tertiary referral center positioned at the heart of the Texas Medical Center, the single largest medical center in the world. There are 775 inpatient beds, 129 ICU beds, and 73 operating rooms. In May 2004, TMH and Weill Medical College of Cornell University committed to a 30-year affiliation agreement, paving the way for new academic resident training programs in surgery and medicine.

In 2010 The Methodist Hospital Research Institute opened its doors to a 440,000 square foot, state of the art building dedicated to advanced simulation and training as well as innovative research in medicine and medical technologies. This appointment is for a full-time assistant or associate professor with excellent benefits and research opportunities. The candidate must be a BC/BE general surgeon with fellowship training in surgical critical care. As part of an academic Acute Care Surgery group, your responsibilities will include general surgery resident education as well as clinical staff duties for both emergency general surgery and surgical intensive care.

The Surgical ICU is a busy 27-bed non-cardiac unit with a strong multi-disciplinary team and clinical research focus. There are no trauma duties required. Candiate must be BC/BE in General Surgery with fellowship training in surgical critical care.
