Company and Divisional Description: This position will be with AEGON Asset Management, the organization which oversees asset management for many of Transamerica's insurance and operating companies as well as third party clients. The global AEGON Asset Management organization has operations in Europe, the United States and Asia. Primary offices in the United States are located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Baltimore, Maryland. AEGON Asset Management and Transamerica are both part of the AEGON NV group of companies. The legal entities that comprise AEGON Asset Management US are AEGON USA Realty Advisors, LLC and AEGON USA Investment Management, LLC. AEGON USA Realty Advisors, LLC manages commercial real estate, commercial mortgage loans and other real estate related investments. AEGONUSA Investment Management, LLC, is a registered investment adviser that manages fixed income assets, including public bonds, private placements, derivatives and alternative investments.

AEGON Asset Management (AAM) has an opening for an Accountant or Intermediate Accountant with the finance group in the Investment Division. Performs either entry level or Intermediate Accounting duties and is responsible for working with the daily investment financials and gaining an understanding of these reports and resolve issues. Will also work with others to gain better understanding of changes in our reports and resolve discrepancies. Great position to learn the foundation of activities in the Investments Group.

Intermediate Accountant Job Summary:
Performs intermediate accounting functions or responsibilities requiring general supervision. Utilizes general accounting and financial principles and techniques, and assists in obtaining, assembling, evaluating, interpreting, recording and analyzing financial data. Prepares financial reports and performs financial analysis as directed.

Ensures the accounting transactions are recorded accurately and timely.

Reconciles, investigates, corrects and adjusts accounting information in accordance with aggressive deadlines.

Reviews or analyzes data for completeness, material changes, variances and other appropriate information.

Updating daily financials for monthly and quarterly reports.

Prepare Monthly/Quarterly journal entries accurately and timely

Determines appropriate methodology to prepare information for use by others.

Identifies, participates and contributes ideas for success in relation to assigned work, projects or other process enhancements.

Understands the flow of information, financial systems, appropriate reporting tools and uses that knowledge to troubleshoot problems.

Responsible for adherence to the company's framework of internal controls.

Assist with financial statement preparation and reporting requirements.

Assist in other multiple bases of accounting and financial reporting projects on an as needed basis.

Assist in the calculation and compilation of the divisional forecast and budget plans.

May assist in documenting business processes, identifying controls and deficiencies in business processes, testing of identified controls, and mapping of internal financial statements to business processes.

May coordinate/review work or supervise others.

Intermediate Accountant Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent education/experience.

Minimum of two years of experience, with degree.

CPA preferred.

Working knowledge of accounting area preferred (for example, investments, insurance products, premium, tax).

Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing, ability to handle multiple projects, customer service approach, willingness to take on new projects.

Work effectively individually and within a team; organizational and prioritization skills.

Excel experience preferred

Accountant Job Summary:

Prepares and/or assists in preparation of financial reports and performs financial analysis as directed.

Performs professional accounting work involving compilation, consolidation, and analysis of financial data. May include any or all of the following: ledgers and preparation of journal entries; fixed asset or inventory accounting; preparation of trial balance or financial statements.

Updating daily financials for monthly and quarterly reports.

Prepare Monthly/Quarterly journal entries accurately and timely

Reconciles, investigates, corrects and adjusts accounting information in accordance with aggressive deadlines.

Prepares financial statements and/or work papers for multiple accounting bases.

Explains to others how and why transactions were processed and reported.

Uses multiple financial systems and/or sophisticated reporting tools to produce a variety of analyses.

Proactively identifies unique problems, such as reconciliation/posting issues, and seeks help to resolve, if necessary.

Prepares financial statements and reporting requirements.

Project work as needed in other multiple bases of accounting and financial reporting.

Assist in the calculation and compilation of the divisional forecast and budget plans.

Responsible for adherence to the company's framework of internal controls.

Accountant Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent education/experience.

0-2 years of experience, with degree.

Working knowledge of accounting area preferred (for example, investments, insurance products, premium, tax).

Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing, customer service approach.

Detail-oriented, accurate; work effectively individually and within a team, organizational and prioritization skills.

Excel experience preferred
