Job Description
POSITION: Fitness-Strength Coordinator

Reporting to the Director of Recreational Sports within the Student Affairs Division, the Fitness Coordinator is responsible for providing quality fitness programs and services for University students, faculty and staff members.

RESPONSIBILITIES: The responsibilities of the Fitness-Strength Coordinator will include:

Plan and implement the opening and daily management of our new 20,000 sq. ft. fitness center.

Recruit, hire, train and evaluate student exercise instructors, personal trainers, and staff.

Ensure staff is trained in emergency procedures.

Purchase and maintain necessary weight equipment.

Schedule and coordinate group fitness/wellness program, weight room management and instructional group exercise classes.

ADMINISTRATIVE UNIT: The University of Louisiana at Lafayette is one of eight publicly supported universities in the University of Louisiana System. The University, the largest in the UL System, is a Carnegie Research University with high research activity. The University consists of eight degree-granting colleges and the Graduate School. The Universitys enrollment is approximately 17,000 and it employs over 600 full-time faculty members. Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS: Masters degree in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Physical Education, or related field from an accredited institution. Applicant must be self-motivated, service oriented, and able to work successfully in a college environment. Experience in managing university fitness programs, group exercise classes, and weight training activities. Documented certification(s) through NIRSA, AFAA, ACE or ACSM, certified in personal training/group exercise, AED/CPR and First Aid.
