The UI Designer position will be located in one of the following offices: San Diego, CA; Sacramento, CA; Golden, CO; Austin, TX; Cambridge, MA.

The UI Designer works with core programmers and corporate marketing to create a coherent look and feel across all applications/platforms (Silverlight, SharePoint, intranet, internet). The successful candidate has demonstrated the ability to create designs, concepts, and sample layouts based on knowledge of layout principles and esthetic design concepts, has experience in multiple platforms and the ability to work with a distributed team.

The primary responsibilities for this role will include:
Maintain and administrate the current Joomla 1.6 – based Intranet.

Work along-side the core-developers using application and UIX maps detailing the inner workings of custom applications to develop a coherent style, interaction and look. Should be able to use a combination of Photoshop for layout and creating static images, as well as styling in XAML for interactive elements and controls.

Work along-side the core developers to maintain the established look and feel across all platforms.

Manage time and tasks associated to assigned projects and meet target dates

Stay current with knowledge of related technologies, designs, methods, and trends

The successful candidate should have a majority of the following qualifications:

Hands-On Experience with the following software:
Adobe Dreamweaver CS4

Adobe Photoshop CS4

Microsoft Expression Blend 4

Microsoft Expression Design 4

Microsoft InfoPath Designer 2010

Microsoft Office Suite 2010

Microsoft SharePoint Designer 2010

Microsoft Silverlight 3/4

Microsoft Visual Studio 2010

Microsoft Windows 7

An understanding of HTML/CSS/jQuery in mixed (Windows/Linux) server environments.

An understanding of XML/XAML in the customization and styling of Silverlight/Sharepoint/InfoPath contexts.

An understanding of cross-browser compatibility (Primarily with IE7-9, but Firefox and Chrome would be helpful)

An understanding of Microsoft Products in general (Windows/Office/Networking).

Experience using Adobe software, such as Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Acrobat.

Ability to realistically sketch wire frames of concepts requested for the intranet, developers, and related teams.

Ability to administer and maintain Joomla 1.6, including adjusting current themes as well as creating new ones. Experience with mYSQL/phpMyAdmin as well.

Experience modifying existing, or creating new MasterPages/Themes for SharePoint 2010.

Experience with styling Silverlight applications and creating custom controls using Microsoft Expression Blend and Expression Design, as well as Visual Studio 2010.

Experience with styling InfoPath forms using InfoPath Designer, as well as being able to understand and modify the XML/HTML/CSS directly.

Experience using Subversion for source/project version control.

Required Qualifications & Skills

5 – 6 years of related experience, experience working with SharePoint, InfoPath, CSS, HTML preferred.

Associate’s degree in Computer science or equivalent from two-year College or technical school required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
