SUMMARY OF DESCRIPTION
The Perioperative Care Associate is employed by Miami Valley Hospital's Division of Surgical Services to enhance the nature and quality of patient care through a relationship with the Perioperative Registered Nurse. The Perioperative Care Associate assists the Perioperative staff by performing assigned tasks for which he/she has been trained, which facilitates the turn-over of cases in the Perioperative setting.
NATURE AND SCOPE
The Perioperative Care Associate works under the direction and is accountable to the Group Leader, and the RN. Tasks are delegated at the judgement and assessment of the Group Leader and the RN. The PCA has current knowledge of patient populations.
The following are comprehensive lists of tasks for which the PCA has been trained and can vary according to patient need and acuity. The PCA will assist the perioperative staff in other activities based on procedural needs. All tasks are delegated by the RN after assessment of the procedure.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
Must have a High School diploma or equivalent. Certified in CPR. Knowledge of sterile technique. Previous direct patient care experience preferred
