Performs the leadership duties of a supervisor. Provides professional direction and development for a team of engineers and technical support personnel while coordinating a variety of engineering projects and activities for a Pepco Distribution Planning Team in the Asset Strategy & Planning Group. Supervises the development of corporate plans, or of improved techniques and resources to produce such plans, for expansion, reinforcement, and reliability improvement of the electric distribution system in order to reliably and economically supply present and future customer loads. Represents the Company on industry working groups and/or coordination teams. Provides guidance, engineering and technical expertise, and specific training as required to ensure professional results. Maintains liaison with other company, government, utility, and industry agencies. Provides expert testimony as required.

Position Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
7 years of progressive, relevant engineer experience as described below
Experience demonstrating skill performing electric utility distribution and/or transmission system planning, such as load forecasting and substation and feeder expansion programs.
Experience demonstrating skill analyzing electric utility distribution and/or transmission systems using PC-based analytical software such as power flow programs, circuit analysis programs, and load forecasting analysis. Includes experience training others in the use of same.
Experience demonstrating skill providing technical guidance and/or training in engineering theories, standards, concepts and/or techniques as applicable to electric utility distribution systems.
Experience demonstrating skill managing engineering project/activities.
Experience demonstrating skill implementing creative and innovative engineering methods and solutions.
Experience demonstrating skill taking a lead in projects.
Experience demonstrating skill making independent decisions regarding complex issues.
Experience demonstrating skill coordinating work with groups within and/or outside of an organization, specifically coordinating with internal engineering, government affairs, etc. Experience demonstrating skill giving formal presentations.
Experience demonstrating skill using PC-based word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, database and e-mail software.
Ability and willingness to travel to various locations.
Ability and willingness to work extended hours, non-standard work hours and on-call on an emergency basis.
Ability and willingness to wear and use safety equipment as required by federal, state, local and company regulations.
Ability and willingness to work in a variety of work environments including outdoors in all weather conditions, on or around energized electrical equipment, in confined spaces, underground and in noisy and dirty environments with proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Ability and willingness to perform a second role in accordance with PHI's Emergency Preparedness Guidelines for all employees
Must successfully pass a Criminal History Records Check
Must successfully pass a medical screening to include a drug test.
Must possess a valid driver's license.
Must successfully complete the First Line Supervisory Assessment.
This position is a NERC Regulated position. As such, a background check will be conducted on incumbent every seven years. Additionally, the incumbent will be required to complete annual NERC compliance training..

Professional Engineering (PE) license.
Master’s degree in Engineering, Business or related field.
Experience demonstrating skill using power flow software (for example, CYMDIST, EasyPower, DEW, PSS/E, etc.).
Knowledge of utility engineering economic analysis techniques.
Experience demonstrating skill using design software (for example, CAD software, Visio).
Formal supervisory experience including monitoring performance, conducting performance appraisals, coaching and counseling employees.
Experience demonstrating skill developing, providing input into and/or monitoring an operating and/or capital budget.
Experience demonstrating skill promoting and ensuring a safe work environment and compliance with Federal, state, local and company regulations (for example, OSHA, Sarbanes-Oxley).
Experience demonstrating skill acting as a company liaison to outside organizations and/or representing a company on industry/external working groups.
Experience demonstrating skill providing expert testimony.
