Specific Job Description
The Computational Systems Architect is responsible for assisting in the management, administration, maintenance and support of systems in a High Performance Computing and Scientific Visualization center. This includes, but is not limited to, design of purpose-built scientific computing systems and HPC infrastructure, and installation/configuration of hardware, operating systems and commercial and in-house developed applications. The position is challenged with ensuring maximum availability and highest level of performance for production and mission critical technology resources. The successful candidate will manage HPC systems through their Life Cycle; administer and maintain all HPC, Visualization and other mission critical technology resources; coordinate and perform server hardware and software upgrades; monitor server performance and network connectivity; monitor scientific workstations; monitor and resolve assigned customer trouble tickets. Troubleshoot operating systems, server hardware, and network issues. Maintain relevant and current knowledge within assigned technical fields; communicate and interact with other engineering team members to ensure coordination and cross training. Recommend new processes and procedures, equipment and software.
