General Summary
The “Retail Communications Specialist” serves as liaison between the Retail Operations group and all Godiva corporate Departments, working collaboratively and proactively to ensure that all relevant information is delivered at the appropriate time. Under the direction of the Retail Communications Manager, this position ensures that all critical and relevant information is disseminated to all Retail Field locations on a timely basis. In addition, this role serves as the “gate keeper” managing the content and flow of all communications to the Retail Boutiques, and will work on special projects.

Principal Accountabilities

Weekly Retail Updates – 30%
  • Responsible for building and maintaining a weekly communications vehicle (i.e. newsletter) to keep all field-based boutiques, and supporting departments, informed of all upcoming product, visual, promotional and operations news. Works with supporting departments in gathering and compiling relevant information for the update. Writes, produces and distributes weekly document.
Field Communications & Flow – 25%
  • Under direction of Retail Communications Manages, writes/develops and distributes various field communications. Serves as the “gate keeper” in regards to information flowing into the Retail organization (from other departments) determining content, method of delivery and timing. By controlling the flow of communications/requests to the field, this position is critical in helping to maintain boutique workloads
Monthly Workload Calendar – 25%
  • Working with various corporate departments, gather and compile key deliverables, tasks & dates in preparing and maintaining Monthly Workload Calendar. Must ensure that Workload Calendar is accurate, up to date and timely.
Recognition programs – 10%
In collaboration with the Communications Manager, creates and manages field recognition programs (monthly, quarterly, annual, etc.) Creates and coordinates the posting of organizational announcements and recognition updates on the North American Retail portal.

Miscellaneous Projects – 10%
  • Miscellaneous projects (communications based) as assigned.
Job Complexity

Ensures accuracy and brand appropriateness of all materials developed and submitted for Retail fields communications.

Builds relationships with all Corporate Departments (i.e., Marketing, Merchandising, Planning & Allocation) to ensure the free flow of information and that the most up to date information is communicated.

Works under strict timeframes and tight deadlines.

Must be able to address questions from Field Boutiques and Corporate partners. Must have the ability to “push back” and say “no” in regards to materials and communications being funneled to the field boutiques.

Education & Experience

Education: Associates degree, BS/BA preferred, or equivalent work experience

3 – 5 years of relevant experience within a Retail environment.

Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects and assignments

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Creative writing/design skills (i.e., designing recognition programs, templates, presentations, newsletters, etc..)

Innovative/creative thinker

A can-do mindset with the ability to surmount obstacles and execute the plan

Strong attention to detail and quality

Microsoft Office Skills (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)

Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Publisher, Quark/Photo Editor and related graphics packages
