The Business Development Manager contributes to EarthLink Business’ success by increasing customer satisfaction, retention and revenue growth through the development and maintenance of an assigned base of business customers in the selected market. This position is primarily responsible for retaining customers, introducing new products and expanding existing services, facilitating the resolution of complex issues and securing referrals and testimonials from EarthLink Business customers.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Achieve revenue growth objectives by increasing revenues within current base: Research, develop, and grow assigned customer base by product and network upgrades, cross-sells, and adding additional/new services. Continually inform customers about new services and the benefits they bring to their business
  • Achieve outlined monthly quota targets
  • Manage and promote ELB cloud services and IT services
  • Stay engaged with customers to deepen relationships and recognize new opportunities through a regular proactive call schedule
  • Renew / maintain all customers on term agreements
  • Coordinate with Marketing, Sales, Operations and other EarthLink Business functions to expedite exchange of ideas and information needed to ensure customer satisfaction
  • Team and partner with our internal colleagues on critical new sales opportunities
  • Track, process and report sales, re-terms and other customer information using the Earthlink sales force automation, order management and customer care systems
  • Meet customer needs and maintain a loyalty relationship by acting as a liaison between billing, customer service, tech support, and any other internal needs to resolve issues. Alert Manager of unusual, at risk situations, or escalations
  • Demonstrate the EarthLink Business values and brand at all times


Required Skills/Competencies:
  • 2-5 years of network communication and/or managed IT services experience
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (word, excel, power point, etc.)
  • Experience with sales force automation systems preferred
  • Solid business acumen
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • High level of self-initiative
  • Customer Relationship management skills including demonstrated ability to display a strong customer service orientation
  • High performance orientation; has a “Raise the bar” mentality, constantly striving to reach new levels of performance
  • Well organized with a high level of attention to detail
  • Ability to sell into existing customer base and proven quota attainment success
  • Ability to sit or stand for long periods time and meet other physical requirements of the position
Minimum Education: Bachelor's or Associate Degree in Sales, Account Management, Business Communication or Similar program or equivalent work experience
