Law student with an interest in diverse cultures and tax issues. Prior course work or clinical experience in tax law is preferred. Excellent oral and written communication skills, research skills, organized and detail-oriented. Please indicate if you speak languages other than English. MUST be eligible for Work Study.


Assist tax attorney in preparing cases including: interviewing clients, gathering facts and documents to support cases, researching applicable laws and regulations, drafting correspondence and pleadings, keeping clients informed of activity on their case, updating information in computer case management system, assisting in scheduling community legal education events and drafting community legal education materials, and other tasks as needed.

Program/Unit Description

The Legal Aid Society of Minneapolis' (LASM) Tax Law Project provides legal advice and representation to low-income people with tax audit and collection problems. Legal services include: community legal education, policy advocacy and legal advice and/or representation.
