We are seeking a qualified Research Engineer - Melting and Forming, to join our R&D team at our facility located in the Pittsburgh, PA area. The engineer will be responsible for significantly improving combustion systems in our melting furnaces.

The Research Engineer in the process research group will support research and technical programs aimed at developing new melting and conditioning processes that are more energy efficient, less capital intensive and are designed for flexible manufacturing. This position will be responsible for equipment design, material selection, modeling of the melting forming process with computational fluid dynamic method, and will use advanced statistical multi-variant approach to solve problems. The incumbent will also have responsibilities to optimize process performance.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Develop process modeling and selection (mechanical, strengths, processes, fluid flow).
  • Planning and execution of experiments related to improving existing melting and conditioning technologies.
  • Development of new rapid material melting technologies.
  • Participate in the development of promising melting technologies into commercially viable processes.
The candidate will demonstrate proven skills and potential leadership in an industrial R&D environment with a willingness to participate in full commercialization cycle.

Qualifications

Experience and Education

The candidate will have a PhD in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering. Post-doc experience preferred. Additionally, 2-5 years of industrial R&D experience most preferred.

Functional and Technical Skills
