The Ponce Inlet Lighthouse Preservation Association seeks a dynamic , passionate and professional individual to manage and grow its history, social studies, language arts, and science education and volunteer programs. The “Programs Manager” serves as the lead for all educational services at the L ighthouse and is charged with the development and management of all educational programs of the institution. The Programs Manager works with teachers, children, students, adults, volunteers and the public, and develop s and implements educational programs that relate both to special exhibitions, the museum’s permanent collection, and to the Florida Sunshine State Standards. The Program’s Manager recruits , trains, evaluates and manages the Volunteer Program.

Job Responsibilities:
Provide direct educa tional programming to the public.
Develop , implement , and evaluate all educational programs, including but not limited to School Programs, School and Civic Outreach, and Summer Camps. Foster the educational experience via effective programs that address multiple learning styles .
Directly participates in the preparation, scheduling, and execution of on- and off-site educational programs including t eacher w orksh ops, lectures, civic events, g roup t ours, student workshops, and others.
Promote educational offerings and develop professional relationships with p ublic and private school teachers, administrators, and subject area specialists .
Work in partnership with other historic and educational institutions in the development and execution of collaborative educational programs and events.
Compose and submit informative articles, press releases, and updates regarding scheduled events, educational programs, volunteer activities for publication in quarterly journals, newspapers, and other media.
Recruit , train, and supervise volunteers and interns . Evaluate and report on volunteer and intern performance and recognize volunteer achievement and contributions .
Coordinate with all departments in maximizing educational offerings to the public.
Assist in the development , maintenance, and administration of the Education Department’s Annual Operational Budget and Association fund-raising efforts.
Performs independent research to prepare meaningful age-appropriate programs across the curriculum in keeping with the Preservation Association’s mission to preserve and disseminate the maritime and social history of the Ponce De Leon Inlet Light Station.
Develop procedures and policies for safe and efficient operation of programs.
M anage and maintain the education program collection and all areas assigned to the Program s Manager.
Maintain accurate detailed computer generated records of all volunteer activities and educa tional offerings and attendance.
Develop and maintain a ccurate event calendar s and school, teacher, volunteer, and media contact database s .

Qualifications:
Possess a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in history, public history, museum studies, science, elementary education or other related field.
Minimum three years teaching experience in an accredited educational institution o r youth-oriented museum setting.
P ossess a valid Florida teaching certificate or be able to transfer certification to Florida from another state. National Teaching Certification is also desirable.
Be a ble to develop workshops, activities, and focus units aligned to Florida’s Sunshine State Standards (SSS) and formatted in accordance with FCAT requirements.
Have experience recruiting, training, and managing volunteers.
Be able to plan and lead meetings.
Possess a positive attitude, collaborative spirit, be a great motivator and supervisor.
Be able to pass a background check.
Possess a strong working knowledge and competency in the use of all Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, Outlook, & Power Point.
Be physically able to work outdoors in all weather conditions, lead extended outdoor and indoor guided tours involving extensive walking, standing and climbing stairs.
Possess strong public speaking skills.
Be organized with the ability to multitask and coordinate overlapping activities.
Be able to lift up to fifty pounds without assistance.
Possess a valid Florida driver’s license and h ave access to an automobile to purchase and deliver supplies and materials as necessary.

About the Organization:
Located in Ponce Inlet, Fl, the Ponce Inlet Light Station is situated on 6 wooded and landscaped acres . Declared a National Historic Landmark in 1998, the light station is comprised of a 175-foot lighthouse, three historic keeper dwellings , four original service buildings, an education building, and three modern multi-story structures that house the museum’s extensive collection of historic lighthouse optics, the museum gift shop, and administrative and maintenance spaces. Housed in the historic structures, t he museum’s collection and exhibits interpret the lighthouse keeper’s lives, lighthouse service history, and the maritime and social history of Ponce Inlet. The Ponce Inlet Lighthouse Preservation Association is dedicated to the preservation and dissemination of the maritime and social history of the Ponce de Leon Inlet Light Station. Salary and Work Schedule:
$3 1 ,000 - $ 35 ,000 per year with benefits , commensurate with experience
Position is salaried, exempt, full ti me ( weekends and evenings required as needed)
