Volt has a long-term position available in Mt. Vernon, WA for a Tier Two Mechanical Product Engineer.


Specifically, Our Client is seeking "hands-on" Mechanical Engineers who are experienced with heavy-duty Diesel Engines and their associated controls and Electro-Mechanical components.

This position will not only play a role in existing engines, but will also take part in a cutting-edge R&D and Production environment.

It is essential that qualified Engineers are not only familiar with Diesel Engine Design, but that they possess the capability for and experience with "hands-on" troubleshooting, Root Cause Failure analysis and providing corrective action.

Demonstrated experience with full troubleshooting repair work and associated documentation/reporting tools are essential to this role.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Mechanical Product Engineer II will:
Troubleshoot mechanical issues on engine and after-treatment systems.

Identify the Root Cause using Engineering tools, software, product documentation and in-depth Data Analysis.

Recommend and implement product and process improvements.

Provide technical guidance to Field Service personnel.

Design tests, analyze and interpret results, and write reports.

Plan the project budget, content and scope.

Complete minor drawing changes.

Possibly provide on-site customer support.

This is an estimated 6-12 month contingent / temporary position in Mt. Vernon, WA, through Volt Engineering Services , headquartered in Seattle, WA. Required Skills for this Mechanical Product Engineer II position include the following:

BS Degree in appropriate technical field required ; Advanced Degree or PE a plus

3-10 years of relevant work experience in Heavy Duty Diesel Engines

Understanding of Engine Control software systems and architecture

Experience with Diesel Engine Design, Instrumentation and/or Engine Field service

Understanding of Diesel Engine and After-Treatment Hardware Design and Operation

Familiarity with Active Diesel Particulate Filters, Urea Selective Catalytic Reduction systems, and other NOx Reduction systems

Ability to:
Work well independently and as part of a team

Summarize technical issues and communicate effectively

Should be self-directed, with excellent analysis and Engineering judgment

Must be organized and disciplined, with:
Ability to manage workload

Willingness and initiative to respond to shifting time and project demands

Ability to travel up to 15% annually required
