The Tunnels, Bridges and Terminals Department is the proud stewards of some of the most world-renowned and pivotal facilities: the George Washington Bridge; the Holland and Lincoln Tunnels; and the Bayonne Bridge, Goethals Bridge, and Outerbridge Crossing, not to mention the Port Authority Bus Terminal and George Washington Bridge Bus Station. With our four bridges, two tunnels, a bus terminal and a bus station, the Tunnels, Bridges & Terminals Department is responsible for ensuring that people and goods move safely, efficiently, and conveniently between New York and New Jersey as they traverse the region and link via major interstates to other parts of our nation.
We are seeking to fill a long-term project position as a Sr. Management Information Specialist in our Tunnels, Bridges and Terminals/E-ZPass Programs unit. This position offers benefits and will be located in the department’s Jersey City, New Jersey office and will require significant time and travel to and between TB&T facilities.
Under the direction of the Supervisor, E-ZPass Technical Services, the selected candidate will be responsible for overseeing Integrated Toll Collection System (ITCS) operations to provide improved control of system operation and maintenance activities. This will include: early detection of equipment problems; diagnosis of system/component problems; providing assurances against extended periods of undetected component failures; and overseeing system administration to ensure optimal equipment functioning of subsystems.
The selected candidate will also research and develop procedures, manuals and other documents on a variety of ITCS maintenance issues; prepare written correspondence, reports and presentations; and prepare and monitor performance measures.
- Bachelor’s Degree in a technical discipline such as Engineering, Information Technology or Mathematics from an accredited college or university.
- A minimum of three years work experience in an engineering, IT, project management or toll operations environment.
The ideal candidate will present the following qualifications profile:

Demonstrated ability in development and management of performance-based contracts.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with all levels of internal and external staff, contractors, and cross-departmental teams.
Demonstrated concern for meeting and exceeding expectations and requirements of customers and an understanding of customer service environment.
Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems and make quality decisions.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and prioritize multiple projects.
Knowledge of toll plaza operations, traffic management and toll plaza maintenance procedures.
Knowledge of toll collection equipment, data networking and computer servers.
Knowledge of E-ZPass program and customer service center operations.
Proficiency in the design, testing and control of computer-based revenue collection systems.
Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, Access, and PowerPoint.
Knowledge of computerized maintenance management system applications.
Demonstrated proficiency in various computer driven programs and experience manipulating data with the use of MS Applications.
A minimum of 3 years experience in an engineering, IT, project management or toll operations environment.
An advanced academic degree.
