This role serves as the key communications manager and coordinator facilitating and meeting all internal and external communications needs of one or more regulated and/or non-regulated PHI subsidiary.

From an external communications perspective, this manager is responsible for leading and directing an integrated communications program that incorporates media relations, web-based communications, crisis/issue management, social media and advertising and which is aligned with enterprise-wide external messaging and communications efforts. This role seeks to advance and position operating subsidiaries as industry leaders within the electric industry and with all key constituencies including state/regional and local media, trade media, elected/appointed officials, key influencers, community leaders, business partners and prospective customers.

From an internal perspective, this manager is responsible for implementing a comprehensive communications program that supports the internal needs of each operating subsidiary and which is aligned with PHI enterprise-wide internal messaging and communications efforts. This role seeks to employ communications strategies and programs to build employee support and understanding of critical operational, financial and cultural objectives and which engages employees, builds employee advocacy and drives cultural and organizational change.

This role works closely with all parts of the Corporate Communications team and with government affairs, regulatory affairs, customer care personnel and emergency preparedness to coordinate strategies and messages across all external and internal audiences. This role is critical in ensuring that the Corporate Communications team provides communications support that effectively meets the business objectives of all operating subsidiaries.

Position Requirements

Required:
Bachelor's degree in Communications or related field or the equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience.
Experience managing the corporate communications function in a corporate, government, or non-profit setting to include:
­- serving as the key corporate spokesperson on camera in a corporate or government setting;
­- writing, editing and producing publications, speeches and presentations;
­- building and maintaining relationships with others to include public, press, agencies and senior management) in highly volatile and demanding situations;
­- providing counsel, guidance and/or strategies to senior management on matters relating to external reputation and corporate image; and
­- coordinating communication strategies and providing support to internal customers across departments.
Experience demonstrating skill building and/or maintaining relationships with the news media.
Experience demonstrating skill making decisions independently with little or no information in a short period of time sufficient to represent the company's interests.
Experience demonstrating skill supervising and/or leading others.
Experience demonstrating skill using PC-based word processing, presentation and e-mail software.
Ability and willingness to work extended hours and 24-hours on call duty, including managing on-call responsibilities of subordinates as required.
Ability and willingness to travel to various company and/or media locations as required.
Must possess a valid driver's license.
Must successfully pass a Criminal History Records Check.
Must successfully pass a medical screening to include a drug test.

Preferred:
Master's degree in Communications or related field.
Experience demonstrating skill directing public relations activities to include advertising, media relations, crisis communications and/or web based communications.
Knowledge of and/or experience demonstrating skill working within the utility and/or electric industry.
Experience demonstrating skill ensuring crisis communications plans are in place to enable the company to communicate effectively during emergencies.
Experience demonstrating skill identifying emerging technologies as they apply to the media.
