Seeking Adjunct

Teachers in the following areas:

  • Fire Science
  • Industrial/Electrical
  • Other disciplines as necessary
Meet and teach assigned class(es) in accordance with course outlines, including specified textbooks. Develop a course syllabus based on the approved college outline. Attend such meetings and workshops as may be necessary to obtain or renew certification or essential licensure requirements. Other meetings as required. Promptly submit required rosters, grade reports, evaluations, and academic reports. Follow the same accepted standards of conduct as the full-time faculty as described in applicable administrative procedures which relate to unsatisfactory service and conduct unbecoming a faculty member. Document the completion of three (3) hours per semester of professional development activities related to the discipline area and student learning.

Teaching assignment may be day or evening at any campus site.

Minimum Expectations & Requirements:

General Education (Transfer):
1. Master’s degree in the field to be taught; OR
2. Master’s degree in any field with 18 graduate semester hours in the field to be taught; OR
3. Master’s degree in any field with 24 upper-division or a combination of upper-division and graduate semester hours in the field to be taught; OR
4. Other credentials may be considered by the Instructional Dean in cases of instructional emergencies with approval by the Vice President for Instruction and Student Services.

Credentialing Requirements for Faculty Teaching Coursework in Occupational Terminal Degree Programs

1.Same qualifications are preferred for faculty teaching transferable coursework; OR
2.Bachelor’s degree in the discipline to be taught; OR
3.Associate’s degree in the discipline to be taught; OR
4.Five (5) years recent work experience in the field to be taught; OR
5.Specialized certificate in the field to be taught may be considered for terminal degree and certificate programs only.

Credentialing Requirements for Faculty Teaching Coursework in Developmental Education
1.Same qualifications are preferred for faculty teaching transferable coursework; OR
2.Bachelor’s degree in any field with 24 upper-division and/or graduate semester credit hours in the teaching field and five (5) years of teaching experience.
All faculty (full-time and adjuncts) holding an Arizona Community College teaching certificate issued prior to July 1, 2002, shall be considered as having met the minimum standards for teaching in the field(s) for which the certificate was issued during the time the certificate would have been valid.

Preferred Skills & Abilities:

- Masters degree in the teaching field (preferred)
- Community college teaching experience
