Albright College, founded in 1856 and located in Reading, Pennsylvania, seeks an accomplished professional to join its senior staff as Vice President for Advancement.
Reporting to the President, this senior officer serves on the President’s Advisory Council and provides inspirational leadership and strategic direction to the Advancement Division of the College, which includes Development, Marketing and Communications, and Alumni Relations.
The Vice President for Advancement must possess demonstrated management experience in higher education with the leadership, fund-raising and communication skills necessary to bring value and success to the College’s advancement program. Senior-level experience in college advancement including soliciting and stewarding major gifts while leading a team of professionals in pursuit of the mission of the College is required. A bachelor’s degree is required and an advanced degree is a plus.
Under the leadership of its fourteenth president, elected in May, 2005, Albright College is at one of the most dynamic points in its history. In October 2008, the College celebrated the successful completion of a comprehensive campaign that exceeded its goal by $8 million. The trustees have just launched a new campaign with a goal of $55 million and $32 million committed, almost half from the trustees. Recent capital improvements include a new 5,000 seat, multi-sport stadium, a center for fitness and well-being, and a new $34 million science center. A new 30,000 square foot Center for Business, Civic, and Global Leadership will be completed next summer. Applications for admission are strong and enrollment is at an all-time high. The College benefits from an energetic and committed Board of Trustees.
Albright College is a selective liberal arts college, with an enrollment of more than 1,700 traditional undergraduates and more than 500 adult evening undergraduate and graduate students. Located on a tree-lined, 118–acre suburban campus, Albright’s hallmarks are connecting fields of learning, collaborative teaching and learning, and student-faculty collaborative research. The College offers strong pre-professional programs with notable strengths in the natural sciences and pre-med study, the fine and performing arts, and business. Albright offers a graduate program in education as well as an undergraduate accelerated degree program at ten off-campus locations.
