Job Description:
Stevens Institute of Technology invites nominations and applications for the position of VICE PRESIDENT FOR COMMUNICATIONS AND MARKETING. Reporting to the President, the Vice President will provide leadership, planning and coordination for all of the communications and marketing functions of the University. The Vice President will lead the University's efforts in achieving recognition and support among influential constituencies for achieving the goals of the Stevens 10-year Strategic Plan.

Founded in 1870, Stevens Institute of Technology, The Innovation UniversityTM, lives at the intersection of industry, academics and research. Students, faculty and partners leverage their collective real-world experience and culture of innovation, research and entrepreneurship to confront global challenges in engineering, science, systems and technology management. Based in Hoboken, N.J., Stevens offers degrees in engineering, the sciences, management, business and liberal arts. Stevens has been recognized by both the U.S. Department of Defense and the Department of Homeland Security as a National Center of Excellence in systems engineering and port security research. The University has more than 6,100 undergraduate and graduate students with more than 350 faculty. Stevens' graduate programs have attracted international participation and strategic partnerships with industry leaders, governments and other universities around the world.

The successful candidate will be a dynamic and experienced leader who is able to coordinate all of the University's communications and marketing efforts and assets for optimal strategic impact. The Vice President will lead the work of University communications and marketing staff, including news/media relations, marketing, and multimedia, and collaborate closely with colleagues in the academic units and in the administration, particularly in the Offices of the President, Development, and Admissions. Strategic use and management of external communications and marketing partners and vendors is an important aspect of this role.

The successful candidate will be a visionary leader and innovator able to employ the breadth of traditional and emerging media, as well as earned and paid media, to achieve institutional goals. Superior interpersonal and communication skills are required, as is the ability to build consensus and foster collaboration among various organizational units. Integrity and a high energy level are expected. The Vice President must have a demonstrated ability to develop budgets and strategically allocate institutional resources for maximum impact, and to specify, monitor, and report metrics of progress.
