The Product Development Manager (PDM) will be responsible for building and maintaining product strategies and development, vendor due diligence and implementation activities. The PDM will manage channel development projects, and other assigned projects to support profitable distribution channel growth. The PDM will manage cross-functional projects, requiring clear planning and execution. Key responsibilities
Manage and direct internal resources for effective implementation of new products o Create and manage complex project plans for product implementation and launch o Influence/direct cross-functional teams to successful project completion o Work closely with business analysts and IT in vetting processes and systems required for successful implementation o Manage external resources and vendors in accountability to project plan for launch
Identify ways to enhance revenue with our clients and prospects thru product development and/or product enhancement o Research product ideas, market opportunities and trends that lead to development of new products, features and benefits o Work closely with clients and prospects to gauge market conditions and understand pre/post customer purchase needs o Analyze financial potential of new product ideas o Direct internal resources and external vendors for effective implementation of products o Understand pricing procedures and assist actuarial department with pricing development by providing relevant information o Use financial analysis to make strategy/product direction decisions o Help ensure implementation/testing of new products through internal training and selling of new product ideas to sales force and client contact teams o Work with operations to develop process flows for new products to ensure cost efficient, customer friendly processing
Assist Sales and Account teams with selling new products and Product enhancements o Create/update product descriptions to be used in proposals, presentations and brochures o Assist in writing RFP responses with regard to product information o Develop relationships with potential clients and maintain relationships with existing clients o Support sales force in client meetings and conferences o For all client/prospect requests on existing products, product analyst will provide guidance to the AE and sales representative
Utilize external resources to help develop/enhance products o Develop relationships with outside companies for potential strategic alliances and/or vendor administrators o Keep up on latest industry and consumer trends by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, internet research, establishing personal networks, and/or participating in professional societies.
Work under minimal supervision with some latitude for un-reviewed action
Qualifications Required skills/experience
3 plus years in product, account management, or business analyst in related industry
Proven ability to leverage peer relationships within an organization
Ability to direct and manage a project plan and detailed task list for implementation
Work effectively with a wide variety of company functions and individuals
Must perform duties under deadline pressure in a fast-paced, high volume, office work environment with multi-tasking capabilities
Perform effectively when changes in priorities, direction and resources occur
Posses strong communication skills - verbal and written
Strong presentation skills and public speaking skills
Proven skills in using spreadsheets, word processing and presentation software
Strong analytical skills and detail oriented to create and execute development plans Desired skills/experience
Knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices and procedures of insurance industry
Bachelor's degree of equivalent work experience
