The Claremont Colleges is a unique consortium of seven
distinguished academic institutions, five undergraduate and two
graduate institutions. Collectively, The Claremont Colleges
constitute an academic community of 6,000 students. Each
institution is autonomous, with its own students, faculty,
administration, academic specialties, and educational philosophy.
The Colleges have a common library and share several other major
facilities; the campuses are adjoining. The common resources
provide students and faculty of the small individual institutions
with the resources and advantages of a mid-size university.
Claremont is located 35 miles from Los Angeles. The following

Harvey Mudd College

BIOLOGY: Assistant Professor, tenure-track
position. Dedication to becoming an excellent undergraduate
teacher. Research expertise in the broad area of quantitative
biology. Range of interests in biology, including integrating
computational and/or mathematical approaches in the life sciences.
Possible areas of expertise include systems, computational,
climate-change, or synthetic biology, mathematical modeling,
landscape ecology and other fields that use modern quantitative

MATHEMATICS: Assistant Professor, tenure-track
position. All areas of the mathematical sciences will be
considered. Excellence in teaching is essential, as is evidence of
a strong and ongoing research program. Candidates must be willing

Keck Graduate Institute of Applied Life
Sciences

KGI seeks two junior faculty members to educate graduate students
for careers in life sciences industries and to develop research
programs that contribute new knowledge in the areas of
pharmaceutical discovery and development and biochemical
engineering and bioprocessing. We also seek several founding
faculty to help launch the new Chapman-KGI School of
BioPharmacy.

Pitzer College

POLITICAL STUDIES: Assistant Professor, tenure-track
position. Emphasis on political participation, broadly defined.
Candidates should be trained in both American and Comparative
Politics. Attractive teaching and research interests could include
elections, voting, public opinion, political psychology, and social
movements.

ART: Assistant Professor, tenure-track
position. Artist/professor of photography. Ongoing professional
practice, in-depth knowledge of art and theory, and excellence in
teaching and photography at the undergraduate level are required.
M.F.A. or terminal degree in a relevant discipline is expected.

ACADEMIC WRITING/WRITING CENTER DIRECTOR:
Assistant Professor, tenure-track. The successful candidate will
demonstrate a commitment to the Writing Center as an academic
resource for students and faculty and a continuing program of
scholarly activity. Will teach 3 writing courses per year. Ph.D.
with demonstrated effectiveness in teaching Composition or Rhetoric
is required.

ECONOMICS: Assistant Professor, tenure-track,
pending final approval. Specialization in International Economics,
with additional work in the fields of environmental economics,
health

economics, financial economics, behavioral economics, industrial
organization, and/or urban, rural and regional economics. Various
perspectives, including radical political-economy, are
