The Senior Network Administrator role is to provide subject matter expertise, technical support for routers, switches and associated network hardware, LAN/WAN, TCP/IP and VPN infrastructure, ensuring that strict network and systems technical performance specifications and customer expectations are met or exceeded. The job role also calls for the maintenance of overall network hardware and service levels via testing and evaluation processes prior to rollout or deployment of platforms into the network. These include but are not limited to: Responsible for entire LAN/WAN physical infrastructure and associated data communications network. This includes new network hardware and overall topology solutions, such as new business deployments or major WAN changes involving extensive physical and logical changes to network and underlying configurations. Provide technical implementation and support functions including on-call services within SMUS IT network services group for regional LAN/WAN networking-related matters. Accountable for adhering to change management process for network related incidents consistent with global processes to meet service expectations. Accountable for problem determination, troubleshooting and resolution of network, IP and VPN related problems through use of network diagnostic tools and probes to 'debug' the network. Participates in the improvement of support processes, subject matter expertise, and technical capabilities within the SMUS IT team. Responsible for control of remote access for SAP/Microsoft Exchange and network access. Responsible for Microsoft Exchange 2000 environment, including Active Directory maintenance. Accountable for Microsoft Office 2000/Professional/XP and associated business software package installations and inventory. Overall responsibility for the availability and integrity of the network LAN/WAN infrastructure.
A minimum of five years experience in the IT systems field, with in depth practical understanding of network systems administration based on TCP/IP and IP switches/routers; LAN & WAN; firewalls; ISA, VPN; domains & security; internet protocols; tape backup systems Experience with CISCO routers (2600 and 4000), CISCO Switches (2500, 2900, 3500, 5000) series. Must have strong working knowledge of various wide area networking solutions including voice and data VPN services, TCP/IP and frame relay network products and services, protocols related to current LAN WAN technologies, knowledge in IP networks including LAN/WAN architectures, wireless network solutions, DSL and cable modem services. Extensive experience with MS Windows Active Directory (2000/2003) and MS Exchange plus knowledge of domain design principles. Extensive MS Office 2000/XP and Windows 2000/XP desktop systems knowledge, primarily for integration and standardization purposes (i.e. desktop group policies, configuration, image/RIS preparation) Self motivated, with good organizational skills, and ability to prioritize. Must have the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical teammates, clients, and superiors. Strong multi-tasking and organizational skills required. Must have the ability to work well under time constraints in a fast paced environment and to have the ability to analyze solutions from a cost, technical, or functional perspective, including project management skills. Individual should possess the ability to learn quickly and adapt to changing priorities required. Must have the ability to work in comfortably as part of a team but able to take the lead in resolving systems issues. Must be service-oriented, results driven. Experience with SAP R/3 Rel. 4.6c is not mandatory but would be considered a plus.
