Blue Lake Regional Park located in Fairview, Oregon*
Oxbow Regional Park located in Gresham, Oregon
Note: Blue Lake and Oxbow Regional Parks are not on bus routes and public transportation in the area is limited.
*Seasonal Park Workers also may be assigned to work at other Metro properties, including boat ramps, cemeteries and other park sites.
Multiple full and part-time temporary positions are available. The number of hours scheduled per week and shifts assigned may vary based on weather and park usage. Duration: Through the summer season.
Workers will be asked to do a variety of jobs, including customer service, custodial and grounds maintenance and/or fee collection.
Essential Job Duties:
An employee in this position must be able to perform all of the essential job duties listed below with or without reasonable accommodation; however, this list is not intended to include all of the specific tasks which an employee in this position may be expected to perform.
Collects fees at park entrance booths and campgrounds; answers questions and distributes park information. Operates cash register and credit card machine. Performs cash handling and reconciliation. Previous cash handling experience preferred.
Custodial and Grounds Maintenance
Performs grounds maintenance, including mowing, trimming, weeding, irrigation and garbage removal at developed parks, cemeteries and natural areas. Ensures that visitor areas are clean, orderly and properly maintained; cleans, maintains and restocks rest rooms; sweeps and mops floors; cleans sinks, mirrors, counters, toilets and urinals.
Assists in providing a safe and enjoyable experience for visitors. Under the direction of Park Rangers, provides information and assistance at picnics, campsites, weddings, special events and cemeteries. Explains and informs guests of park rules and regulations; monitors restricted use areas; keeps records of incidents, accidents and enforcement actions.
- At least 18 years old
- Possess a valid driver’s license
- Ability to pass a criminal history check and a driving records check
- Ability to operate, or learn to operate, a case register and credit card machine, handle cash and reconcile funds
- Ability to operate vehicles and equipment
- Ability to perform strenuous physical labor
- Ability to work outdoors in heat, cold and inclement weather
- Ability to provide excellent customer service and maintain a professional and cooperative attitude when dealing with the public
- Ability to communicate clearly and follow directions; ability speak another language is preferred
- Ability to work independently
- Must be available to work weekends and holidays
- Ability to work in a safe manner and follow Metro safety policies, practices, and procedures.
