Post by Jobing - UNCOVERED POSITION: THIS POSITION IS NOT SUBJECT TO THE PROVISIONS OF THE PERSONNEL RULES OF ARIZONA STATE SERVICE. We are in search of a qualified Psychologist to work at the Arizona State Prison Complex in Buckeye. This position will be responsible for conducting psychological evaluations and assessments; providing individual and group psychotherapy sessions; preparing progress and termination reports; performing classification assessments; developing and implementing programs for special needs inmates; providing emergency interventions; coordinating interdisciplinary programs; supervising subordinate staff; and performing other duties appropriate to the assignment. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSAs): KNOWLEDGE: Of advanced nature and cases of mental illness; modern individual and group psychological treatment methods; evaluation and measurement instruments and techniques; research designs and methods; teaching methods; psycho–diagnosis; interdisciplinary team operations; personality dynamics, behavior patterns of special needs and problematic inmates; and supervisory techniques and management methods.
SKILL: In test administration, screening and evaluation; oral and written communication; report writing; development, implementation and monitoring of psychological programs; research and data processing; lesson plan development; staff training; coordination of multidisciplinary program teams; assessment of program needs; obtaining resources for program development and implementation; and time management methods. ABILITY: To work in a prison environment; establish solid working relationships; use a personal computer and associated software. SPECIAL SELECTION FACTOR(S): Graduate from an accredited college or university with a doctoral degree in psychology. Applicant must possess a current, unrestricted license to practice psychology in the State of Arizona and two years of post–doctorate experience.

PREFERRED CANDIDATE: Will possess experience providing mental health services in a correctional setting and/or previous experience with the Arizona Department of Corrections. PRE–EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENT(S): Employment is contingent on the successful applicant passing a background investigation and a pre–employment drug test. RETIREMENT: Positions in this classification participate in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS).
