Manages and oversees the installation, configuration, and maintenance of UNIX operating systems. Plans, directs, and coordinates activities of departmental technology projects to achieve the goals or objectives of projects within prescribed time frames and funding parameters. This includes:
I nstalls, configures, and maintains UNIX servers, including Web servers, in support of business processing requirements.
Performs software installations and upgrades to UNIX operating systems and layered software packages and maintains them in accordance with established policies, procedures and service level agreements.
Develops tactical and strategic plans, standards, guidelines and policies for the system resources based on growth, trends, available metrics, etc.
Ensures UNIX workstations/server integrity by evaluating, implementing and managing appropriate software and hardware solutions.
Conducts routine hardware and software audits of UNIX workstations/servers for compliance with established standards, policies, procedures and configuration guidelines.
Creates and executes project work plans and revises as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements.
Identifies resources needed and assigns individual responsibilities.
Manages day-to-day operational aspects of a project and scope.
Reviews deliverables prepared by team before passing to client.
Manage back-up infrastructure.
Perform system restores.
Install and configure java application servers.
Coordinate the creation of the Raid Groups, Luns and mapping storage to hosts.
Note: The position requires 10% to 20% travel.
