The Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences at Louisiana State University is searching for a small animal surgeon. Opportunities exist for activity split between orthopedic/neurologic and soft tissue/oncologic surgery or exclusively on one or the other service. This is a clinical-track or tenure-track faculty position in the Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences with a concurrent appointment to the professional staff of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital. The successful candidate will join a team of small animal surgeons and contribute to the department's goals through participation in didactic and tutorial instruction in companion animal surgery, and through independent and collaborative research. The successful candidate will participate in the Soft Tissue/Orthopedic/Neurosurgery/Rehabilitation/Oncologic Service of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital and cooperate with other clinical faculty in clinical teaching and hospital practice; support the emergency duty clinicians through provision or supervision of companion animal surgery service when requested; active participation in the graduate program, residency training, continuing education, and public relations programs of the School of Veterinary Medicine.
(All Levels) DVM degree, board eligibility or certification by the American College of Veterinary Surgeons (ACVS) and/or the European College of Veterinary Surgeons (ECVS) OR successful completion of a residency training program by the American College of Veterinary Surgeons (ACVS); (Associate Professor level) five years of related research/teaching/clinical experience; (Full Professor level) eight years' experience.
Postgraduate degree; experience in clinical investigation and/or team research.
