Responsible for providing outstanding CUSTOMER SERVICE. Responsible for implementing directives of the Manager and Assistant Manager. Aid in the coordination of sales promotion activities and prepares, or directs workers preparing, merchandise displays and advertising copy. Accountable for assisting in the supervision of associates engaged in sales work, taking of inventories, reconciling cash with sales receipts, keeping operating records, or preparing daily record of transactions for Sales Audit, or performs work of subordinates, as needed. Informs Manager and Assistant Manager of merchandise and supply replenishment needs. Ensures merchandising guidelines and cleanliness standards are met. Ensures that pricing and signage follow company guidelines. Maintains extensive product knowledge by keeping educated on new product information. Responsible for assisting in the timely processing of incoming/outgoing shipments and maintenance of an organized, neat back room. Assist in the preparation of daily, weekly, and monthly sales reports. Assists the Manager in attaining the weekly budgeted payroll percent. Aids in ensuring compliance of associates with established loss prevention guidelines as indicated in the company handbook and record keeping procedures and practices. Assists in the completion of the training of new associates. Responsible for protecting all company assets and insure confidentiality. Answers customer�s complaints or inquiries. Locks and secures the store. Ability to work 32 to 40 hours per week and be responsible to work within the manager�s guidelines.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
High school degree or three to five years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, write and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other associates of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute discount and percent.

REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations in a professional manner using good judgment. The ability to deal with and help resolve conflicts and disputes as they arise both within the store and outside our area.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the Associate Manager is regularly required to stand, walk and use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls. Reach with hands and arms, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk and hear.
The Associate Manager must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assists in the supervision of the service associates in the various departments. Assists the Manager and Assistant Manager for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these individuals. Assists in recruiting, interviewing and selecting associates to fill vacant positions and to maintain bench strength.
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization�s policies and procedures. Responsibilities include assisting in training associates planning, assigning, and directing work disciplining associates addressing complaints and resolving problems.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Examples: typewriters and/or computer printer High School diploma or GED required. Previous management experience and previous Softlines Background retail experience required.
