Regular, Full-Time, RCUH Non-Civil Service position with the University of Hawaii Kauai Community College, Sustainability TAACCCT 2012 Grant, located on Kauai, Hawaii. Continuation of employment is dependent upon program/operational needs, satisfactory work performance, availability of funds, and compliance with applicable Federal/State laws.


DUTIES: Will (1) provide instruction in sustainable living projects encompassing agriculture, green construction, renewable energy, affordable housing, recycling, and waste management, and while working closely with the Ho’ouluwehi Executive Director, develop and lead Kauai Community College (Kauai CC) projects in these areas (these programs will support credit and non-credit curriculum); (2) foster partnerships with public and private entities to achieve The Sustainable Living Institute of Kauai’s program goals; (3) research methodologies and technologies applicable to sustainable living projects and incorporate them as appropriate; (4) perform other duties as assigned.

PRIMARY QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four (4) year college or university in Agriculture, Renewable Energy, Construction Management, Environmental Sciences, or related field. EXPERIENCE: Three to five (3-5) years of successful college teaching experience. ABIL/KNOW/SKILLS: Good understanding of sustainable living, encompassing agriculture, green construction, renewable energy, affordable housing, recycling, and waste management. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Applications software, including word processing, spreadsheets, and presentation programs; accurate, detail-oriented work skills; effective communication (verbal and written), organization, and human relations skills. Able to work independently, prioritize workloads to meet deadlines, prioritize and to anticipate problems, and work well in a diverse environment. Must possess a valid driver’s license.

SECONDARY QUALIFICATIONS: Experience working on sustainability projects preferred.
