Install / reconfigure high-availability servers and related infrastructure in accordance with standards and project / operational requirements.
Develop and maintain installation, configuration, and operational procedures.
Contribute to and maintain systems standards.
Occasional visits to a remote data center – including off-hour and emergency visits.
Perform daily monitoring to verify the proper performance and integrity of all network systems.
Perform regular security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions.
Perform daily backup operations as well as regular data archiving and purging as necessary.
Create, change, and delete user accounts per request.
Repair and recover from system failures. Coordinate and communicate with impacted parties.
Apply system patches and upgrades regularly. Configure and add new services as necessary.
Automate regular operational tasks using shell and Perl/Python/Ruby scripts.
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or 5 years experience as a Unix system administrator is required.
Must have a minimum of 3 years of hands on experience with Unix or Linux system administration
Must have 2 years of experience with at least one of the following: Perl; Python; Ruby; BASH
Experience with large scale ecommerce/commercial software in a hosted environment SaaS
Experience administering a VLDB installation
Experience with SAN administration
Experience with Nagios and the ability to program custom plugins.
Functional knowledge of a variety of programming / scripting / query languages such as, but not limited to, Perl, Ruby, C, Python, PHP, SQL.
Experience with Hadoop a plus.
