About the Position

The Information Technology Analyst works respectfully and cooperatively with the employees of the College of International and Extended Studies (CIES) reporting to the Associate Dean of the College. Perform duties under limited supervision, but works independently to achieve specified outcomes, acts as a liaison between CIES and campus Information Technology Services (ITS) for strategic Information Technology (IT) initiatives and communication.

The purpose of this position is to provide expertise to design, program, implement, maintain and provide technical support to the CIES community. The employee in this position is expected to be an expert in current technologies and stay abreast of future technologies thus assisting the college in its mission to be a leader in providing easy access to digital resources. This position helps lead the CIES's IT to ensure that it conducts its business in the most up-to-date, efficient and cost effective manner. The position also will provide general CIES - wide support in the following areas: Network and Servers infrastructure, Media Services, and the Help Desks. This position provides assistance to other sub-units of CIES and provides consultation and advice to the management in planning, recommending and implementing IT equipment, services and support.

Responsibilities include, but may not be limited to:
Configures, deploys and when needed designs CIES's network complete with network appliances such as firewalls, routers, switches with multiple VLANs and/or concentrators etc.
Provides technical assistance, analyzes and troubleshoots the network appliances (switches, hubs, etc) and their connectivity to the campus fiber backbone and the devices within the CIES building.
Designs and troubleshoots wiring schemes from the networking closets to the end-user devices.
Installs, configures and troubleshoots, when needed, server hardware and/or software with multiple OS such as Windows, Mac and Linux.
Setups and maintains Domain controller, Backup Domain controllers, Print servers, Web servers (internal and external), Proxy servers, Application servers.
Operates and provides user support for various server-based application software.
Provides knowledge, leads the IT Helpdesk Support function and provides technical support to the CIES staff and students with computers, printers and related equipment.
Coordinates with appropriate networking and client software installation to connect to the CIES resources (servers, printers and other network devices), campus servers (e.g. PeopleSoft, email etc.) and the Internet resources.
Configures and coordinates disk image(s) of workstations to simultaneously deploy on multiple workstations using third party software (e.g. Ghost).
Provides technical support for media technology equipment, such as projectors, TV, DVD/VCR players, etc. in meeting rooms, staff conference rooms and classrooms.
Hires, trains, schedules, and oversees CIES IT Student Assistants.
Attends appropriate local, regional, state, and national conventions, professional conferences and meetings. Education and Experience

A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics or equivalent education to Cisco CCNA or CCNP (Cisco Certified Network Associate/Professional) and a minimum of three years of full-time experience in computer networking which consists of security, data processing, design and programming of LAN and WAN hardware and software, is required.

Preferred Qualifications
Experience configuring networks, trouble shooting and analyzing network appliances, and evaluating network traffic.
Experience coordinating and performing server administration.
Experience providing help-desk support for computers, printers and related equipment.
Experience designing and supporting desk-top security schemes.
Experience providing technical support for media technology equipment such as projectors, TV, DVD/VCR. Experience troubleshooting media equipment problems.
Experience with both PC and Apple platforms. Experience installing and troubleshooting hardware and software issues.
Minimum of 3 years of experience as a UNIX/Linux and Windows network administrator. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Thorough knowledge of English grammar, business writing, punctuation, and spelling; ability to present clear and concise information orally and in written reports.
Thorough knowledge of computer networking, SAN - Secure Area Network, and TCP/IP Network Protocols.
Thorough knowledge of windows programming, scripting, and network administration tools.
Working knowledge in design and optimization of LANs including LAN, WAN, hubs, switches, routers and other technologies.
Technical knowledge of Windows 7 & XP, UNIX and Macintosh client/server environments, Gmail, FileMaker, PC hardware and software, familiarity with TCP/IP, DNS server, DHCP server, and IIS server software.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and appropriately handle sensitive communications with employees and external agencies.
Strong oral communications skills. Must possess excellent customer service and public relation skills.
Ability to troubleshoot hardware, software, and network problems using a variety of test equipment and diagnostic software. Posting Date
