The Woodbridge Campus
NOVA-Woodbridge is located in the eastern region of Prince William County (PWC). Woodbridge is the third largest of the six NOVA campuses, serving over 11,000 students annually. The economic base of the campus’ service region is Information Technology, Cyber-Security and government contracting. The campus is located between two major military installations serving the Washington, D.C. region; Ft. Belvoir and Quantico Marine Base. These installations are becoming the Department of Defense’s hub for military intelligence and investigative services. PWC is the fastest growing county in Virginia, according to the latest U.S. Census. The County also leads the Commonwealth in job creation, and is also home to the second largest public school division in Virginia. The campus’ 11,000 student population includes students from over 90 different countries. Woodbridge is 22 miles from Washington, D.C. and 10 miles south of the Capital Beltway.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Dean is the instructional leader for the Business and Social Science division which includes general education and career focus courses. As the instructional leader, the Dean develops, organizes and administers instructional programs and courses. The Dean also provides professional development opportunities for all faculty, as well as develops and oversees the budget for the division. Additionally, the Dean works closely business, industry and various community groups to determine whether existing programs are meeting the needs and to identify other opportunities program offerings. The next dean will have the opportunity to have a leadership role in developing and implementing several initiatives that will enable NOVA and the Woodbridge Campus to be a major contributor to critical economic development and workforce endeavors in the region.

Minimum Qualifications

Master’s degree and qualifications to teach in a discipline or program at NOVA.
Previous experience as a Dean, Assistant Dean or department chair.

Preferred Qualifications:
Desired: Earned doctorate in a related field; significant experience in academic administration. The ideal candidate will also have will have a successful record of collaborating with the business sector to development educational and training programs. The ideal candidate will also have a record that demonstrates a commitment to the principles and practices that define a high performing organization.
