Implementation and maintenance of all web-based development for company-wide projects. This position requires a main focus of responsibilities towards the management, enhancement and ongoing support of all front end website development with the ability to collaborate with a design team to produce structured improvements to customer facing websites; as well as some focus on back end development that will require coordination and collaboration with database engineers and other teams.
Principle Accountabilities & Deliverables
- Responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and releasing production level C# .NET application modules as defined by various design/development specifications and the business requirements.
- Work with various departments on a regular basis to make regular updates to internal and external websites.
- Work on a variety of company-wide projects.
- Participate in application design sessions and work closely with a systems analyst, who develops the business and design/development specifications for various project needs.
- Enhance the (Intranet and Internet) by actively seeking and collecting information from various departments to assure data accuracy, timely updates to web pages, ease of client use and efficient web service management.
- Maintain web reports that reflect site visitors and traffic on a weekly and monthly basis.
- Collaborate with database engineers on web application development as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Education / Experience
- HS Diploma or GED required. Bachelor’s degree preferred or 5 years related experience.
- 3 + years experience using C#, ASP.NET, VB.NET, T-SQL, SQL SERVER 2000/2005, Web Services, CSS, HTML4, HTML5, JavaScript, jQuery Development and .NET 1.0 and 2.0 framework.
- Experience in developing applications and web services with C# and VB.NET and Visual Studio is a must.
- Experience in fundamental relational database design required.
- Experience developing database-driven web applications required.
- Experience developing within a CMS (content management system).
- Experience developing core infrastructure code (e.g., a common database access library) used by other developers is a plus.
Skills
70% of development will leverage these development skills:
- Knowledge of HTML, DHTML, JavaScript, jQuery and CSS (style sheets).
- Knowledge of website development and design methodologies.
- Ability to create clean and professional GUI interfaces in relation to web forms, interactive menu integration and widgets that enhance the user experience.
- Seamless integration of new website elements and applications into a high-volume 24x7 production environment with the use of staging environments for testing and QA.
- Assist in the maintenance of existing website applications, content, functionality and design enhancements.
- Demonstrated understanding of object-oriented design and development (OOA/OOD).
- Leveraging existing .NET application framework with opportunities to extend the framework for use by other developers.
- Ability to work in a team oriented environment with strong interpersonal communication skills (verbal and written).
- Must be able to adhere to strict deadlines for major initiatives.
- Proven ability to apply problem-solving and decision making skills.
- Ability to create clean documented and commented code for future development.
- Excellent communication skills – you must be able to implement a solution and describe it to a non-technical person.
30% of development will leverage these development skills:
- Assist in the maintenance of existing ASP/VB/C#.Net applications.
- Development of N-tier ASP.NET web applications using VB.NET, C#.
- Business object development and exposure of business logic via .NET Web Services.
- Basic knowledge of graphic design applications (Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash, etc.).
- Competent working with XML and the .NET XML libraries that provide methods to read, write, process, and navigate through XML documents.
These additional skills are a plus:
- Knowledge of DNN (DotNetNuke), SharePoint 2007 & 2010, UML design and SourceSafe.
- Usability analysis and development concepts for improved website performance.
- Knowledge of Google Analytics and website loading speed optimization.
- Mobile website and application design/development experience a plus.
Abilities
- Must be able to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 5 pounds 5% or less of the workday.
- Must be able stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl 5% or less of the workday.
- Must be able to talk, see, hear, concentrate, think, learn and reason for all of the workday.
- Must be able to sit and walk or otherwise move around for prolonged periods of time throughout the workday.
- Must be able to use a keyboard and do manual tasks for prolonged periods of time throughout the workday.
