The primary goal of the Sr. Network Engineer is to ensure the smooth operation of the organizations network in order to provide maximum performance, security and availability for the system users.
This position is responsible for designing, installing, maintaining and supporting LAN and WAN infrastructures. Position provides high-level technical support for data network systems, creates and maintains network documentation, maintains hardware and software standards and works projects as needed in order to upgrade to new and/or improved communication equipment and procedures.
The Sr. Network Engineer must be well versed with the advanced engineering and administration of multiprotocol routers, multilayer switches, network security devices and network management systems. This position requires excellent problem management and customer service skills.
Key Responsibilities Include:
-Designs, implements and supports firmwide network systems.
-Analyzes systems security as well as security threats to the network system.
-Manages various projects ranging from implementation of a new product to coordinating vendor services.
-Travels to remote locations to aide in the relocation or replacement of network infrastructure and communication systems.
-Creates and maintains network documentation, maintains hardware and software standards, and works projects as needed in order to upgrade to new and/or improved communication equipment and procedures.
-Monitors network usage, anticipates problems and suggests solutions.
-Performs network security design and integration.
-Assists in the development of guidelines and procedures for administration and security best practices.
-Works closely with colleagues to meet team goals and improve processes and practices.
-Remains current on emerging technologies via professional groups, trade magazines, internal and external training, independent research and study, and other avenues available.
Must have a Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted for degree requirement.
Seven years of experience with IP networking to include experience configuring Cisco System networking equipment including routers, switches and firewalls.
Working knowledge of Windows AD and DNS.
Strong organizational and project management skills required to manage a variety of networking projects and initiatives.
Must have strong ability to understand complex problems and bring to resolution.
