This position is the technical lead on a new multi-institutional digital publishing platform within the Dartmouth Digital Library Program. Installs, codes, documents, and maintains a digital publishing software system to deliver XML journal articles and associated supplemental files. Works as a member of a multi-institutional team of editors, reviewers, and scholars. NOTE: This is a career ladder position; non-competitive promotion to Senior Programmer/Analyst III occurs upon the recommendation of the supervisor and the concurrence of the Library administration and the Office of Human Resources. This is a four-year term position.
Skills & Knowledge:
Proficiency in Java, C/C++, Unix, MySQL, Oracle, Perl and PHP. Experienced with Tomcat server, and Hibernate, Struts, and Spring frameworks. Familiarity with web templating engines such as Freemarker. Development of applications programs for Macintosh, Windows, World Wide Web and Unix operating systems. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to work and set priorities independently without close supervision. Project management and leadership skills. Demonstrated ability to independently learn and apply new technologies. Commitment to diversity and to serving the needs of a diverse population.
A minimum of 6 years in the design, development and implementation of complex information systems (e.g. relational, full-text). Prior experience with software development tools. Programming experience in a multi-tier and cross platform systems environment.
Bachelor's in Computer Science or Engineering; or the equivalent in education and experience.
