Position Description: Facilitate the transfer of statistical methodologies and development to Davis College of Agriculture, Natural Resources, and Design (DCANRD) faculty, staff and student researchers.
Provide assistance and guidance with statistical design and analysis issues that arise from the research work of the DCANRD personnel in the various disciplines of the College (Animal and Nutritional Sciences, Design and Merchandising, Forestry and Natural Resources, Plant and Soil Sciences, and Resource Management).
The responsibilities of the position will include: Address statistical aspects of on-farm trials, mixed models, various components of spatial statistics, and specialized linear mixed models.
Provide innovative, effective and well-received statistical consulting for DCANRD faculty, staff and graduate students.
Provide training and experience for DCANRD students who are conducting relevant thesis and dissertation research.
Provide evaluation as needed on statistical methodologies.
Report results of statistical analyses, including information in the form of graphs, charts, and tables.
Process large amounts of data for statistical modeling and graphic analysis, using computers.
Plan data collection methods for specific projects and determine the types and sizes of sample groups to be used.
Identify relationships and trends in data, as well as any factors that could affect the results of research.
Analyze and interpret statistical data to identify significant differences in relationships among sources of information.
Evaluate the statistical methods and procedures used to obtain data to ensure validity, applicability, efficiency, and accuracy.
Work and collaborate with Statisticians from Eberly College of Arts and Sciences Department of Statistics.
Qualifications: MS in a statistics field relevant to a college of agriculture, natural resources, and design.
Successful candidate will demonstrate excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills. The successful candidate will also provide statistical support for abstract, manuscript, and grant publication; work with multiple researchers and directors; requires proficiency in SAS and/or SPSS; identify and prioritize opportunities for study design improvement and data analysis; and communicate statistical results and implications both verbally and in writing to a broad range of clients. Two years’ experience with graduate level statistical training to provide statistical support to the DCANRD.
Salary: Commensurate with experience.
