Performs administrative duties in support of the Mechanical Engineering Department. Duties include ordering supplies, reconciling expenditures for projects totaling $1-2 million/year; assisting with personnel transactions and reconciliation of personnel expenditures; travel arrangements and reimbursements; logging orders; maintaining calendars; assisting faculty and other day to day duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Demonstrated experience independently providing administrative support in a professional office setting; demonstrated proficiency utilizing office software such as word processing, spreadsheets, accounting related database management systems, calendaring, and email; demonstrated ability to disseminate programmatic information to a diverse clientele; demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative manner to coordinate work and resolve problems; strong communication and interpersonal skills; strong bookkeeping skills. Must effectively accept challenges and responsibility; take pride in achieving organizational goals; demonstrate a strong work ethic and team orientation; and demonstrate the desire to work in a student and research oriented environment.

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of financial procedures associated with grants management; knowledge of university policies and procedures related to fiscal, purchasing and travel transactions; experience with Banner Finance; experience with domestic and international travel arrangements; and event planning experience demonstrating ability to assist with organizing center bi-annual meetings. Ideal candidate should demonstrate ability to adapt to and work effectively within a variety of situations; demonstrate effectiveness in working with diverse individuals and/or groups; demonstrate strong analytical and organizational skills; demonstrate ability to attend conferences as related to center operations; demonstrate effectiveness in taking meeting minutes; demonstrate strong personal computer application competencies including the ability to set up internet based meetings using applications such as GoToMeeting and WebEx.
