This position operates a truck to deliver or pickup various commodities within an assigned area.
Operates a truck to load or unload at potable water/waste water fixtures or loading docks/areas.
Empties or fills tank as required or assists in the loading/unloading process.
Counts material or reads gauges, meters, or other measuring systems to record quantities loaded or unloaded.
Drives truck to customer's/clients premises. Connects hose to tank or fixtures or places truck in position at loading docks/areas.
Performs various mechanical maintenance, repair, and fueling/oil duties for assigned vehicles.
Maintains pumps and motors in vehicles and plant. Assists plant operators in day to day operations and maintenance.
May be assigned a classification such as level I, II, or III. Other related duties may also be assigned.
THIS POSITION REQUIRES:
1. An Alaska - class “A” or “B” CDL is required for our trucks. A class “C” CDL is not valid.
2. A tank endorsement (“N” or “X”) is required because the tanks are larger than 1000 gallons. (a “T” is for trailers, not tanks.)
3. There is no such thing as an Air Brake Endorsement. There is an Air Brake Restriction and if a person has this on their license, the license is not valid for our trucks.
4. A valid D.O.T. physical.
a 3 year clean driving record; ability to obtain Water Distribution I and Waste Water Collection I certificates; ability to pass criminal background check; 2 years experience which demonstrates successful and safe operation of large commercial vehicles; experience operating large commercial vehicle in Arctic environments desired. North Slope field knowledge preferred.
Background position ranking skill levels: Language skills sufficient to: 1. Read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. 2. Write simple correspondence. 3. Effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Math skills sufficient to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, or volume. Reasoning abilities sufficient to: 1. Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram form. 2. Deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Physical Demands: Employees are regularly required to sit, use hands, reach with hands and arms, hear, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, and crouch. They are frequently required to stand, walk, and smell. They are occasionally required to talk.
Employees must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Employees are regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, outside weather conditions, and vibration, frequently exposed to high, precarious places and risk of electrical shock, and occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level is usually moderate.
