POSITION PURPOSE : Utilizes the nursing process to plan and provide total, direct care to patients in their Home Setting/nursing unit, according to established standards and practices.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS : The position of RN requires that the person possess a current license to practice as a registered nurse in the state of Alaska. One year as a Home Health RN required. Must have the ability to work independently providing a wide variety of skilled services to clients in the community. Must have a reliable car. Occasional weekend or after hour visits.
Speaking, listening, and basic writing skills are required to communicate with others, and to document care given. Numerical ability is required to calculate drug dosages.
One year in the Home Health setting is desired before training in a specialty area, or an employee is willing to undergo extensive training and preceptorship into the specialty area prior to one year experience. The RN must possess, and maintain, a current Basic Life Support Certification.
Specialty area in Home Health includes: OASIS transmission, diabetes education as an educator on an ongoing basis, Care Coordinator & other departments in the hospital.
Weekend and/or Holiday Rotation may be required.
