Under general direction and supervision of the Lead Database Administrator, the Report Writer develops, uses and supports enterprise level report writing tools to develop standard clinical and financial reports for both departmental and enterprise use and decision making. This position maintains a report library index of both canned reports available within applications and certified custom reports developed by fellow report writers. Must have high level of accounting and healthcare knowledge. Must demonstrate expertise with report writing tools such as McKesson's Horizon Business Intelligence, Business Objects, Excel, Crystal Reports and general use of report writing solutions within various healthcare\financial related applications. Develops and supports standard of operating procedures for report development, verification and customer sign-off. Has experience with data normalization and basic knowledge of database objects and concepts. Demonstrates ability to follow standard concepts, practices, and procedures with regards to report writing. Exercises own judgment to plan and accomplish goals and set priorities with limited supervision. Develops database object, cube and universes for data extraction from application databases to the enterprise data warehouse. Monitors IS customer support system for assigned tasks and functions. Job impact to enterprise is Medium to High. Participates in the research, recommendation, development and implementation of report writing solutions. Is flexible in providing customer service for report outputs.

Bachelor Degree RequiredSpecific Training - Minimum 6 years report writing experience using HBI, Business Objects, Crystal, SQL queries or report building tools

Special Skills:
Certification or path to complete in Crystal report writing and Business Objects

Professional oral and written communication skills

Report writing and basic SQL queries in multiple languages

High level understanding of data normalization and data analysis

Critical thinking skills and ability to direct and educate customers for financial and clinical data output

System performance management\tuning

Disaster Recovery Planning

Simple problem solving surrounding database environments

Required: A minimum of ONE appropriate certification for report writing tools (i.e. Crystal Reports, HBI or Business Objects) Preferred: Crystal and Business Objects6 or more years with departmental level report writing, 3 year enterprise level report writing.
